Stacy Stewart Smith is a painter of both real and imagined things. He has the tendency to work in series and his current theme is entitled "Resurrection." The theme is not only about the process of the mix between abstract and real but is concerned with the presence of human reaction to the emotion associated with enigmatic personal experiences. Those private moments when things seem above and beyond human understanding are the ones we either tell or keep a secret. This depends upon who experiences them, for some will tell immediately and believe wholeheartedly in the supernatural, while others will dismiss not only their experiences but the tales of even their most trusted confidants. Smith is quoted saying,
"To all intents and purposes, I place the viewer in the presumed reality of my art. I use landscapes and industrial structures as a construct for urban spiritual illusions. These structures often lean or have a diagonal juxtaposition and are personified with life kindred to the way plants move toward the sun. Like religious art of the past, my art form Abstractrealism prepares the mind for the concept of accepting the ethereal."
Some of the works may have a relationship to Christianity depending on the ideology of the viewer. Any response to the visual thereof is academic and becomes an argument of metaphysics. Most recently, Stacy Stewart Smith's work has morphed to include humor and the human figure. He attributes this to maturation, critical analysis and self-actualization. Stacy's work has been exhibited nationally in the US and is collected worldwide.
